About Andy Price
Simultaneously decorative, symbolic and cinematic, Andrew’s triptych: Tokyo Time, Osaka Time and Resurrection explores the artist’s observations about Japanese culture and history. Although each painting displays strikingly individual qualities, the theory that the Kimono externalises Japanese society remains the central theme throughout.
Aiming to depict how the traditional icons of the costume can be altered, he sets his captivating female figures against contemporary backdrops. These sumptuous images deal with events such as Hiroshima on a humanistic level, adding a social dimension and thus operate on several different spheres. ( View Art Gallery )
