Only Son of the Ladiesman by Father John Misty
Josh Tillman, the man behind the Father John Misty moniker, got in a van, packed it full of hallucinogens, and drove down the coast of the pacific. Then he headed back to Laurel Canyon to record an album of big, melodic and patently weird folk songs. Of that set of songs, this one is the clear standout. Perfect for driving down long stretches of open road with the windows down and the sun shining, “Only Son of the Ladiesman” rolls on slow and steady, propelled forward by Tillman’s booming voice and buttressed by big “oh” and “ah” harmonies.
