Video: Cruel by St. Vincent

There’s not too much to say about Annie Clark aka St. Vincent. She’s one of those “love ’em or hate ’em” types. But even if you don’t “get it”, you can’t deny her credentials. She has logged in hours as a touring member of the Polyphonic Spree as well as Sufjan Stevens’ band and is currently working on a collaboration with Talking Heads’ David Byrne. Also, she’s a guitar whiz. But for some, her songs can still be tough to digest, her gentle coo often interrupted by buzz saw guitars and and unpredictable melodic turns. For others, however, it’s those very same qualities that make her so entrancing. Each listen reveals something new.
