Via Basel: A Manifesto

Wintering by Marguerite Gignoux

A Manifesto for the coming months and years

I will stop

discussing,

convincing,

rationalizing,

arguing,

expecting,

agonizing,

ruminating,

worrying,

about IT.

I will

sit still,

quiet down,

breathe slowly,

act kindly,

speak truthfully,

write authentically,

love unconditionally,

help individually,

listen intently,

reflect deeply,

resist IT.

Repeat above

again and

again till

it sinks in

my core.

Transforming me,

you, all,

gradually, incrementally.

Reality manifests

oneness, wholeness,

indescribable, infinite.

Basel Al-Aswad, father of EIL founder Christopher Al-Aswad, is a yogi trapped in an Orthopedic Surgeon’s body. His loves in life include reading, writing, hiking, enjoying nature, meditation, and spending time with his large Iraqi family; now, semi-retired, he is exploring new avenues in medicine, education, public speaking, teaching, and social engagement.
