Artist Statement
Originally from San Francisco, Page Kastner grew up in a world of diverse perspectives. Kastner explores the limitations of social norms and corruption throughout society, just as she viewed while growing up. The freedom that is so much a part of youth is juxtaposed in her work with the emergence of degeneracy of innocence that comes when entering adulthood. A child’s wide-eyed views of the world can be seriously manipulated and abused. The dissection into this manipulation continues to be the core of Kastner’s work.
