Artist Statement
Imagination is the core of my art. I like to imagine situations and relationships that are strong and positive. People and animals often feature in my work and, when they do, they usually are aware of each other in a matter-of-fact way. They are contentedly getting on with their life together and, I think, make good role models for the rest of us.
About the Artist
Nicola Slattery lives and works as a professional contemporary artist and art tutor in Norfolk, England. Born in 1963, she graduated with honors from Coventry Art School, where she earned a bachelor’s of fine art degree.
Among the numerous venues at which Nicola Slattery’s work has appeared in solo or mixed (group) exhibitions in the United Kingdom and Europe are Royal Society of British Artists 2014, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2013, and New English Art Club 2011 and 2002. Nicola Slattery is the 2014 recipient of The Alfred Daniels Award for narrative painting (RBA).
Work by Nicola Slattery is found in numerous public, private, and corporate collections, including those of JD Wetherspoon PLC, Queen Elizabeth Law Courts in Birmingham, and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert in London; various local authorities; and, internationally, in the collection of Yoshikawa Medical Clinic for Children in Nagoya, Japan.
Nicola Slattery currently is represented by The Fosse Gallery, Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.
In October 2014, Nicola Slattery’s work will be on view at the Autumn Art Fair in Teddington, in southwest London, at Landmark Arts Centre. Her work will be on show in April 2015 at The Fosse Gallery.
