Rene Magritte: Surrealist Master
Rene Magritte, False Mirror
With its irrational approach to perception and reality, surrealism taps into the subconscious mind and opens doors that were not opened before. Escape into Life has seen an immense popularity in surrealist artists from the Polish artist, Rafal Olbinski, to the Chinese painter, Xue Jiye. It seems, more than ever, people are identifying with these images of unreason and “absurdity” as the surrealist Michael Cheval calls his own works. Here is a tribute to the surrealist master, Rene Magritte, accompanied by an 8 minute long, heartbreaking recording of Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman.”
